Obituary

BOARDMAN – Vilda I. Miller, 95, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman surrounded by her family.

Vilda was born on December 13, 1921, in Silver Hill, West Virginia, a daughter of Roy Buchner and Ocie Odessa Ramsey and step-daughter of Avis Faulk.  A 1940 Columbiana High School graduate, she worked at the Salem Clinic for four years starting in 1962, and four years for the Lawson Dairy Bar.  She retired after 30 years at Family Drug in Columbiana as the clerk and cashier.  Vilda was a member of First Christian Church, where she was a member of the Church Choir, the Sunday school class, and a past member of the Priscilla Circle.

She is survived by three sons, Robert E. (Patti) Miller of Leetonia, Randy Miller of New Waterford and Thomas B. (Diane) Miller of Columbiana; daughter-in-law Margo Miller of Portage, WI, 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Vilda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Raymond Miller, who passed away September 19, 1978; her daughter Carla Sarchet, who passed away January 13, 1988; her son James R., who passed away March 8, 2012; daughter-in-law Susan Miller; sister Elizabeth "Betty" Leiter, and brother Glenn W. Buchner.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at noon, at First Christian Church, Columbiana, with Pastor John Reed officiating.

The family will receive friends at 11 am, one hour before the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Vilda's memory to American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude towards the staff of Shepherd of the Valley for the kindness and compassion shown to Vilda throughout her time there.

The family has entrusted the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with the arrangements for their loved one.
