Obituary

Viola A. Matak, 81 of 939 Shaker Court, Salem, Ohio, passed away on June 3, 2007 at Salem Community Hospital. Mrs. Matak was born March 9, 1926 in Canfield, Ohio, the daughter of Louis and Olivia Pearson Johnson. Viola lived most of her life in Boardman on East Parkside Drive, moving to Salem in 1999 and had resided with her children for the past few years. She was a graduate of Canfield High School, a devoted housewife and mother. Mrs. Matak was a former member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman. Mrs. Matak was preceded in death on December 5, 2004, by her husband, Thomas Matak, whom she married June 17, 1950. Viola is survived by one daughter, Kathy Matak of Salem, Ohio and one son, David and his wife Cynthia Matak and three grandsons, Drew, Dustin and Paul, of Salem, Ohio; two brothers, Paul and Donna Johnson of Canfield, Ohio and Harry Johnson of New Springfield, Ohio. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Salem Bible Church with Pastor Douglas DeMar officiating. Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery, in Youngstown. Friends may call from 5:30-8:00 pm on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service, Friday, June 8, 2007 at the church. Family suggests that material tributes be made to the Salem Bible Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
