COLUMBIANA- Walter Kappler, 84, passed away early Tuesday morning, July, 30, at Parkside Health Care Center surrounded by his family. Walter was born on August 23, 1928 in Washingtonville, the son of Fredrick and Anna (Paulin) Kappler. He was the youngest of thirteen children. He attended Greenford High School, and worked for Charles Maxwell as a plasterer. Walter would later work at and eventually own Yoder Auto Service from 1973 until he retired. He married the former Eileen Naughton on April 2, 1954, and they recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. He was a member of Common Ground Church Community. Walter enjoyed drag racing and NASCAR. He appreciated the American made Ford vehicle, and was especially proud of his Ford Mustang that he treated himself to at the age of 80. He belonged to the Mahoning County Farm Bureau. Above all, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life. Walter leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Eileen; his two daughters, Bonnie (Matt) Andrusewicz and Jill (Frank) Snyder, all of Columbiana; a son, Ronald (Lynne) Kappler of North Lima; nine grandchildren, Scott (Bonnie) Vignon, Jeremy (Rachel) Vignon, Jessica Jackson, Michelle (Brandon) Smith, Brandon (Christina) Kappler, Dustin Snyder, Colin Snyder, Andrew (Jessica) Peacock, and Andrea Andrusewicz; seven great-grandchildren, Nicolette, Maci, Teagen, Kendra, Kylie, Aubrey, and Hailey; a sister, Martha Carr of North Lima; and a brother, Otto Kappler of North Lima. He was preceded in death by his parents, three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Brantley, and Nolan; three sisters, Helen Kappler, Henrietta Johnson, and Emma Kappler; and four brothers, Rudy, Carl, August (Augie), and Joe Kappler. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Common Ground Church Community, 2310 W. South Range Road, with Rev. Steve Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Material contributions may be made to 'Goodness Grows', a mission of Common Ground Church Community, 2310 W.
