Obituary

Wanda Horst, 88, of Columbiana, passed away Thursday morning at Whispering Pines Village. Wanda was born on Feb. 18, 1923 in Columbiana, a daughter of Elmer and Cora (Metzler) Cullar, and was a lifelong area resident. A 1941 graduate of Fairfield Central High School, Wanda was employed by the Hunt Valve Co. in Salem for 40 years, as an insurance and payroll clerk, retiring in 1983. She was an active member of the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren in Columbiana, where she was involved in the Dorcas Circle. She also resided in Florida during the winter months. Wanda belonged to the Columbiana and Mahoning County Extension. She was also a member of the Heather & Heather Herb Club of Columbiana and the Salem Bird Study Club. Wanda and her husband were both master gardeners. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Myrna Lewis of Columbiana; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, whom she married on Oct. 17, 1973 and died on July 29, 1994; and an infant sister, Verna Cullar. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. John Bartholomew officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
