Wilbur H. Martin, 95 of 422 Fairfield Avenue, Columbiana, passed away at his home at 8 p.m. on August 16, 2010 with his family at his side. Wilbur was born July 7, 1915 in Columbiana, Ohio the son of Harvey and Olive (Myers) Martin. Wilbur worked at Harold Tool Company in Columbiana for seven years, in heat treating, he also hauled milk for Dairyman's Co Operative Sales Association also known as D.C.S.A. from 1944-1954, worked at National Rubber Machinery from 1956-1977 until he retired. He was also a self employed dairy farmer from the 1950's until a few years ago. Mr. Martin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana. He loved to read and listen to music. Mr. Martin was preceded in death on June 4, 2010 by his wife, Winifred L. Martin, whom he married on January 23, 1944. Other survivors include two daughters, DeErla (Ed) Schaefer, Sr. of Greenford and Louise Best of Columbiana; one son, Robert (Judy) Martin of Columbiana; one sister, Mary Conrad of Louisville, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Wilbur was preceded in death by one brother Herbert Martin and by one sister Pauline Horst. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana with Rev. Scott Parker officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11-1 p.m. prior to the service at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that material contributions be made to the Deacons at the First Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of the Valley.
