William Regis Mannion Sr., 71 of Poland, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 6:05 a.m.. William was born on February 2, 1937 in Monaca, Pennsylvania, the son of Edwin F. and Veda B. (McConahey) Mannion Sr.. Mr. Mannion moved to Ohio in his early years and was employed as an assembler at General Motors in the Lordstown plant. Most recently William was employed part time at the Firestone Links as a grounds keeper. Mr. Mannion was a member of the New Springfield Church of God. William retired from the Military after serving a total of 23 years between the Army and Navy reserves. He was a member of the East Palestine Blue Lodge F & A.M. 517 and Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown. Mr. Mannion's hobbies included wood working and carving and traveling. William is survived by his wife Marilyn J. (Evans) Mannion, whom he married on December 28, 1957. Other survivors include his children, one daughter; Lisa (Barry) McMannis of New Springfield, three sons; William R. (Cheryl) Mannion Jr. of Carrollton, Ohio, Michael (Lori) Mannion and Donald Mannion, both of Poland, Ohio. Mr. Mannion is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and two brothers; his twin brother, Robert (Marty) Mannion of Ashtabula and Edwin (Virginia) Mannion of Columbiana. William was preceded in death by one son; Thomas Mannion and one brother; Eugene Mannion. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the New Springfield Church of God, with Rev. Alan Leach officiating. Burial will be in the New Springfield Cemetery, where the American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post #290 of Columbiana will conduct a Military Honors Service. Calling Hours will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the New Springfield Church of God, where the Blue Lodge F & A.M. 517 will conduct a service at 8:00 p.m.. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service, March 15, 2008 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the New Springfield Church of God. The family suggests that material contributions be made to the W.C.G.'s of the New Springfield Church of God. Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Homes handled the arrangements.
