Sebring - William H. Readshaw, 93, passed away Monday evening, February 8 at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring. William was born on October 4, 1922, in Ligonier, PA, a son of Charles F. and Mary E. (Texter) Readshaw. A 1941 graduate of East Fairfield High School, he served his country during WWII by joining the Army Air Corp. He flew the P-47 aircraft on 83 missions in the ninth Air Force in the European theatre. After the war, he joined the National Guard from 1945-1960. William worked at the Ohio Edison Company in the sales department in 1945, and went on to be district manager from 1967 until his retirement in 1985. William enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader and was a past Silver Beaver Award recipient. He was a Rotarian at Andover, a past president for the Lion's Club, belonged to the American Legion Post 226 in Andover, the Salem Chamber of Commerce, and the National Guard out of Akron-Canton airport. William was a past member of the Salem First United Methodist Church, the Andover First United Methodist Church, and more recently the Damascus United Methodist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory four sons William and his wife Donna of Salem, Craig also of Salem, Kevin and his wife Kandee of Baldhead Island, NC and Brian Lane and his wife Nancy of Andover; his grandchildren William (Kristy) Readshaw, Amy (Scott) Noris, Brandon (Abby) Readshaw, Craig (Kristen) Readshaw, Tricia Watson, Kristopher Readshaw, and Kimberlee (Rod) Vedder; nine great-grandchildren; his sister Jo Ann Bordenchier of Livermore, CA; and his companion Elouise Shields. William was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, the former Virginia E. Kibler whom he married November 10, 1943 and who passed away September 27, 2011, his two brothers Richard and Robert and two sisters Mary E. Dowd and Jane Miller. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with Rev. Robert Amey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 11 at the funeral home. American Legion post 290 will provide military honors following the service at the Columbiana cemetery chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in William's memory to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 6100 Rockside Woods, Suite 445, Independence, OH 44131. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
