COLUMBIANA – Carol A. Velman, 77, passed away Thursday morning, June 13, 2024, at Briarfield Place in Boardman.
Carol was born on February 2, 1947, in Youngstown, a daughter of George and Viola O’Sidley Sich. A 1965 Cardinal Mooney High School graduate, she also attained her cosmetology license. Carol was a parishioner of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana, where she worked with her husband in the Treasury department. Carol loved crafts, and was especially talented in sewing. She attended and participated in many craft shows along with her daughter Kim. Always on the go, Carol enjoyed travelling, often with her whole family. She also liked to shop and cook. Many times you could find her playing cards or Yahtzee.
She is survived by her husband, John Velman, whom she married August 29, 1970; daughter Kim (Michael) Vuletich and son Michael Velman, both of Columbiana; and three grandchildren Danielle, Nicholas and Christopher.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edward Sich, and beloved dog, Toby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 7th Street, Columbiana, celebrated by Father Chad Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, OH, and also from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024 at the church.
Interment will follow at Firestone Cemetery in Columbiana.
