Damon Hazlett Obituary

Damon Lansing Hazett, born to Niki and Jeremy on March 29th, 1995, embarked on his final journey on April 22nd, 2024 at the age of 29. He is survived by his loving parents, Niki Koch and Jeremy Hazlett, as well as his step-parents, Philip Koch Jr and Wendy Schafer. Damon's memory will be cherished by his younger sisters, Hailey Hazlett and Alaina Koch, his grandparents, Gary and Kay Williams, Philip Koch Sr, Martha Alexander, and his great- grandmother, Donna May Hollister. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins including Julie and Keith Whan, Julianne Hazlett, Jennifer and Ajith Mathew, Kevin and Lindsay Koch, Mark and Sarah Koch. Damon is also survived and loved by his partner, Samantha Rovotti and their many pets.

Damon had a deep passion for history, particularly the Civil War, which fueled his lifelong hobby of participating in reenactments and visiting his beloved town, Gettysburg. He was a dedicated member of Friends of Gettysburg and had aspirations of making Gettysburg his home.

Music was another cornerstone of Damon's life. From strumming the guitar to playing the trombone, drums and piano, Damon's musical talents came naturally. His taste ranged from Scottish bagpipes to the Beatles to French musical talents and even country. He participated in band from middle school to senior year and even earned the title of "Most Musical" by his 2013 graduating class of Springfield Local High School.

Damon's sense of duty led him to enlist in the Ohio Army National Guard, where he served for 5 years and was honorably discharged. Damon's jovial personality and infectious laugh endeared him to all who knew him, both in his professional life as an Assistant Manager at Fin Feather & Fur and in his personal pursuits of fishing, hunting and enjoying the outdoors.

Though Damon departed this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his partner, family and friends. He will be remembered fondly for his passion, talents and the joy he brought to those around him. He was the pride and joy of our family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary Hazlett, Patricia Koch and Russell Alexander, great-grandparents Roy and Helen Williams, Donald Hollister, and Dorothy and Carroll Farnam, June and Woody Hazlett, and great-great grandmother Dorothy Smith.
