COLUMBIANA – Edward Michael Holisky, 81, of Columbiana, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, June 17, 2024, at his home.
Ed was born on November 11, 1942, in Leetonia, a son of George and Mary Grunick Holisky. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1961 and married the former Karen Wilhelm on June 8, 1968. He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima and had previously been a parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church and a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, both in Columbiana. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was an integral part of American Legion Post 290 in Columbiana, where he served as trustee and participated as part of the honor guard in numerous parades and funerals. Ed worked as the Head of Facilities Maintenance at YSU for 25 years. He tended to his vegetable garden, traveling with his family, and was very lucky at casinos. Ed loved ‘Jeeping,’ and going four wheeling and off-roading.
Ed leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Karen, son Bruce Holisky of Columbiana and daughter Alicia Holisky of Salem; two grandchildren Tanner ‘Pearl’ Holisky and Gwen Holisky; and sisters Shirley Pullman of Columbiana and Patricia ‘Patty’ Keller of Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his adoptive parents Tony and Margaret Andrich and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024,at 11:00 am at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana and again on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the church.
Interment will follow at Columbiana Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 290.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Ed’s memory to American Legion Post 290, 44403 State Route 14, Columbiana.
