Helen V. (Cozad) Costello

BOARDMAN – Helen V. Costello, 91, passed away Wednesday morning, June 12, 2024, at Mercy Health Care Center in Boardman surrounded by her family.

Helen was born on May 12, 1933, a daughter of Charles Arthur and Grace Eisenberg Cozad.  She was a member of Mt. Olivet Church in North Lima. Helen was a foster mother for many years, adopting three children.  She enjoyed caring for children, and regularly donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  She also belonged to the Grange, where people looked forward to her candy donations.

Helen leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughters, Mary Ann Pitzo of North Lima and Marijo Mazon of Youngstown; son George Costello of New Springfield; grandchildren Rox Ann (William), April (William), Michele, Olivia (Ryan), Kacey (Cody), Tangi ,Thorn and Taylor;  great-grandchildren Adaline,  Cody (Elise), Tristan (Courtney), Brendan (Madison), Aidan, Logan, Cherokee, Savanna, Hunter and Brayden; great-great grandchildren Luna, Ophelia, Willow, Avery, Cameron and Roman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert Costello, son Michael Costello, daughter Beth Ann Costello, grandson James Pitzo, son-in-law Thomas Pitzo, brother Larry Cozad, and sisters Grace Fetchen and Dorothy Miller.

Private family services were held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Helen’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
