Herbert L. Gray

YOUNGSTOWN – Herbert L. Gray, 90, passed away early Friday morning, May 3, 2024 at his home with his wife and son Vince by his side.

Mr. Gray was born on May 8, 1933, in Coldwater, Michigan, a son of John and Beatrice Haskins Gray.  He was an Army veteran and married the former Anita Mellor on November 14, 1987. They would have celebrated their 37th anniversary this year.

Herb was a self-employed truck driver. He and his wife were members of the First Christian Church of Columbiana and the Blachleyville Church of Christ in Wooster.  He enjoyed old and collectible cars, especially Mercurys. Herb went to almost every NASCAR track in the country, and loved his Harleys.  He was most fond of riding his horses, once riding across Michigan.  Herb belonged to the American Legion Post 290, the Eagles 1506 of East Palestine, and the Pennsylvania Moose Association.

Herb leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Anita, son Vince (Elaine) Gray of Quincy, MI, daughter Vicki (Dennis) Bice of Angola, IN, stepson Matthew Zurcher of FL, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Joseph Gray, stepson Craig Zurcher, and his yorkie, Bella.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Blachleyville Church of Christ, 8482 Blachleyville Road (ST RT 95), Wooster, OH  44691.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the church in Herbert’s memory.

The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
