COLUMBIANA – Lila Norene Lipply went to be with her Lord on August 8, 2024 at age 95.
Lila was born on August 26, 1928 in Leetonia, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert and Viola (Patterson) Heinze. She was a graduate of Leetonia High School in 1947 and a graduate of the School of Cosmetology where she was employed with the Nell Bloom Beauty Salon. She married Loren Lipply on May 29, 1949 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Leetonia, and together they raised five children.
Lila became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Springfield, where a new Church was built. She was involved and excited to teach Sunday School, sing in the choir, serve in the altar guild, the Women’s LCW (Prayer Warriors), Bible Study program, on the church council, and to teach summer Bible school.
Lila was inspired to create a Special Needs Sunday School. With the help of the Presbyterian Church Women of Columbiana she successfully organized and ran the Special Needs Sunday School from 1969-1983. These women loved and enjoyed these very special children! At the same time, Lila also helped to bring the Special Needs Sunday School to Immanuel.
Another life calling was to gather the genealogy of her families. She published three books on genealogy, one each for the Heinze, Patterson, and Lipply families.
In 2006 she rejoined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she became active in choir, the altar guild, and in other various ways. She was a kind person; she just loved people!
Lila will be remembered for her flower garden, especially the one at the church, and her flower arrangements and a variety of craft gifts she loved to surprise her friends with. She was a happy homemaker and dearly beloved by her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She encouraged them to be active in their interests. Lila was blessed with one of life’s greatest blessings, she was blessed with a beautiful family. Her favorite sayings were “God will provide” and “Smile, so your wrinkles won’t show!”
Lila was preceded in death by her husband Loren of 39 years, two daughters, Barbara Sue Lipply and Carol Lipply Turner, a son Keith Lipply, a granddaughter Abby Sue Lipply, a great-granddaughter Victoria Lipply, three sisters, Margaret Wilkinson, Janet Gabriel, and Annabelle Huffnangle, and two brothers, Blaine Heinze and John Heinze. She is survived by two sons, Lee (Deb) Lipply and Terry (Denise) Lipply, seven grandchildren: Daniel, Amy, Joshua, Tyler, Adam, Richard, and Lauren, and nine great-grandchildren: Daniel Jr., Bryce, Zachary, Landon, Lilliana, Tyler Jr., Abraham, Sawyer, Tallulah, and Silas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 29 Spruce Street, Leetonia, officiated by pastor Kari Lankford. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church.
Interment will follow at New Springfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church building fund.
