Orville 'Bill' Bieber Obituary

Orville “Bill” Curtis Bieber, 94, was born on Nov. 2 1929 and passed on March 11, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his children.  He married Deloris Fiscus Bieber on May 17, 1949 and they were an inseparable couple until “Dorie” passed away in 2006.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents Orville C. Bieber Sr. and Hazel Cool Bieber, his brother Douglas Bieber, his son Jack and daughter Sally.  Bill is survived by his children Roy (Jeff). Jim (Maribeth), Cathy (Mack), William “Bill”, Susan and son-in-law Dave Gross.  Bill enjoyed his grandchildren; Heather and Jason (Jim), Curtis and Melanie (Jack), Erica and Mary (Sally), Taylor (Bill) and Jayli (Susan) as well as great grandchildren Baker (Curtis), Kylie and Logan (Melanie), and Dawson (Erica).  Bill is also survived by his sister Audrey Bieber John, sister-in-law Marilyn Fiscus Schall, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Bill graduated from Boardman High School class of ’48, living in Boardman, Ohio his entire life.  He was a lifelong member of Paradise Lutheran Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and oversaw the church’s cemetery where he was laid to rest on March 12.    As a teenager Bill worked at the family business, Mill Creek Dairy Farms which delivered milk products to Boardman homes until the early 1950s.  Following this, Bill and Dorie ran a business to sell high-grade topsoil, enriching the lawn of many local homes.  In the 1970’s Bill became associated with the Green Valley Turf Farm in Canfield as sod farm manager.   He later became co-owner and expanded the business into Florida and Avon Lake, also starting Green Valley Seed Co.  In his last decades of life, Bill and his son William built two banquet centers, Avion on the Water and Drake’s Landing which continue business today.

Bill was a true family man, teaching his children about his Christian faith and how to enjoy nature.  Bill and Dorie seldom vacationed without their children preferring to take them on picnics at the lake on their farm or going hunting or fishing.  He had many lifelong friends who also accompanied them on the hunting and fishing trips, usually resulting in a fish fry at the farm lake when they returned.

Dad had a soft spot for children so in lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, please consider taking your own children/grandchildren fishing, or go for a walk in the country enjoying God’s gift of the outdoors, as Bill did with so many of his family and friends.
