Rebecca Jane (Bloomingdale) Mason

LIBERTY – Rebecca Jane Mason, 84, passed away late Friday evening, April 4, 2025, at Shepherd of the Valley in Liberty.

Rebecca was born on July 23, 1940, in Youngstown, a daughter of Richard S. and Martha Jane (Kerchgessner) Bloomingdale. She was working at Ohio Edison as a secretary when she met her future husband, Thomas Richard Mason. Rebecca and Thomas married on June 26, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown. She would later work as a secretary in the Springfield Local School District.    

Rebecca was a supportive mom, who wanted only the best for her four children.  She was active in the church and served as a councilwoman in New Middletown. She also was a member of Order of Eastern Star.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Thomas G. (Kim) Mason and Tedmund R. (Nicole) Mason; two daughters Teri (Michael) Aber and Tricia (Mark) Mulcahy; and eight grandchildren Amanda, Zachary and Tyler Aber, Tyler and Tim Schultz, and Alexandra, Alaina and June Mason. 

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, who passed away August 23, 1990, and two brothers Richard and Dennis G. Bloomingdale.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 10837 Main Street, New Middletown.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church, and also at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025, an hour before the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank caregivers at Shepherd of the Valley and Compassus Hospice for the loving care of “Ms. Becky”.
