COLUMBIANA – Robert E. Dickey, Jr., 73, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Sunday evening, January 4, 2026, at his home in Columbiana.
Robert was born on March 4, 1952, in Salem, the son of Robert E. and Dorothy J. (Taylor) Dickey, Sr. He grew up on the family farm in New Waterford, and graduated from East Palestine High School. After attaining his associate’s degree in engineering from Kent State University, he passionately worked as a land surveyor for over 45 years. He loved surveying, and was one of the few that still drew his maps by hand. Robert recently drew the plans for his own dream home in Columbiana. He adored his dog Charlie, and always had milk bone dog cookies ready in his pocket as a treat.
He is survived by his wife, the former Diane Crnarich, whom he married on May 27, 1983; his son Travis (Courtney) Dickey, daughter Trisha Dickey, his dog Charlie as well as his grand-dogs Louie, Tucker and Tanner. He also leaves his brother Keith (Patricia) Dickey, sisters Karen (Brian) Henderson and Darlene Dickey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and niece Courtney Dickey.
