NORTH LIMA – Thomas W. Jones, 59, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was born on May 10, 1965, in Youngstown.
He graduated from Boardman High School in 1983 and went on to train in diesel mechanics at the New Castle School of Trades. He worked briefly for Boardman Park before starting a long career driving big rigs for various companies.
Tom was proud of his vintage Harley motorcycle and was an avid fan of drag and stock car racing and the Chicago Bears. He had an uncanny ability to recall dates and past events and was a whiz with numbers.
Tom never knew a stranger and loved to be around his circle of family and friends, including those he met at the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Tom is survived by his mother, Jean Orr Cochran, and step-dad, Mike Cochran; sister, Susan Ainsworth (Ted) of McKinney, Texas; brother, Mike Jones (Lisa) of Poland, Ohio; sister, Ann Rochat of Wadsworth, Ohio; nephews, Michael Jones (Lilly), Reid Ainsworth (Madeline), Zachari Jones (Lauren), and Cade Rochat; nieces, Brittany Koniowsky (Tim), Jacqueline Lyras (Nick), Allison Johns (Connor), and Morgan Rochat; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who loving referred to him as “Tombear.” Devoted cousins, Christine Day and Christine Thomas, helped him with many tasks in his last years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas “Tip” Jones, grandparents, Flo and Bill Orr, and Alice and Paul Jones.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Assumption Village, who patiently cared for him over the last few years.
A celebration of Tom’s life is being planned for early October.
