BOARDMAN - Thomas Raymond Troll, Jr., 81, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the Hospice House.
Born on December 3, 1943, in Youngstown, Ohio, Tom was the son of Thomas Raymond and Anna Marie Seidler Troll Sr. He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1961 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Youngstown State University in 1977. His career in engineering began in 1964 and spanned over 16 years, during which he worked with various organizations from Warren to Pittsburgh. He also held the role of a sales engineer, where he built relationships with steel mills and UPMC. In 1980, he became the President and CEO of Kentrol, Inc., a company he founded that designed and manufactured four-wheel drive accessories, particularly for Jeeps, Broncos, and International Scouts, which were distributed internationally. Thomas also served his country with honor in the Army, stationed in Germany from 1968 to 1969.
On April 23, 1976, Tom married the love of his life, the former Carol J. Garasic. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol, and by his brothers Charles (Tricia) Troll of North Lima and Robert (Cecilia) Troll of Gulf Shores, Alabama. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Tom Garasic of Pittsburgh, brother- and sister-in-law Chuck (Liz) Garasic of Michigan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Martha Garasic.
Thomas was an active member of the community, holding membership in the Brother Allen Masonic Lodge #276 and the Shriners in Youngstown. He, along with his wife Carol, were parishioners of St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. He loved hobbies such as fishing, golfing, where he enjoyed playing with his brother Chuck in the Monday night Men's League at the Valley G.C. Thomas also enjoyed his yearly visits to Las Vegas, playing card games, creating cherished memories with friends and family. If you were his friend, you were his friend for life.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 7th Street, Columbiana with Rev. Chad Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St., North Lima, OH, and also from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass on Monday, January 20, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Thomas's name to the Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, located at 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tom’s caregiver, Tanya, and the compassionate staff at the Hospice House for the exceptional care they provided during his final days.
