Wesley “Wes” Allen Howell, 46 of Columbiana, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Mercy Hospital in Boardman.
He was born on May 27, 1979, in Salem, a son of William Jr. and Velda Nofziger Howell.
He was a lifelong resident of the Columbiana area. He graduated from Columbiana High School and the Columbiana County Career Center in 1997, through the Automotive Services training program. He worked at Sears Auto Center in Boardman as a tire technician and worked there for 21 years until it’s closing in 2018, and at the Sears Auto in New castle for two years until it’s closing at the end of 2020.
For the last four years he worked at the Hogan’s Baking Company in Columbiana as their donut fryer.
He was a member of the Midway Mennonite Church, who served in various capacities such as usher and ran the barbecue grill from time to time. In 2010 he was inducted into the Columbiana County Career’s Wall of Fame for his service in the Automotive Service Field at Sears.
Wes was a man of many interests. He was very helpful to his family members. He was fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, he liked Marvel & DC Superhero movies & TV shows, watching AEW Wrestling, Sci Fi series such as Doctor Who, British Sitcoms, collected Transformers and Action Figures and more. He also liked baking, reading or listening to mystery novels, and movies. He particularly liked spending time with family and treating his nephew David to toys, treats, and more.
Along with his parents, he is survived by siblings Autumn Howell, Justin Howell and Amber (Jon) Springer, and Nephew David Springer.
He is also survived by aunts and uncles, including Gloria Howell of Columbiana, Nancy Nofziger, Janice Foor, Paul & Esther Nofziger, Shirley Nafziger, and Ross & Jo Nofziger. He is also survived by many cousins, and their spouses and children as well.
He was preceded in death by, grandparents Glen & Rosella Nofziger and William Sr. & Ruth Howell, as well as Uncles Dan Nafziger and Cloyce Nofziger.
A funeral service is set to take place on Saturday June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Midway Mennonite Church in Columbiana, with Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service, with burial to take place at the Midway Church Cemetery.
Wes was a big supporter of Local businesses and would have particularly recommended people to support places like the Columbiana Subway (where his sister Amber works), The Hogan’s Baking Company (where he worked) and the Cooks Corner Bulk food store, where he often shopped.
