William F. Rupert

William Franklin Rupert, Sr., 89, of Columbiana, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on May 14, 2025.

Born on February 14, 1936, in East Palestine, Ohio, to Glenn and Mary (Flick) Rupert, Bill—affectionately known as "Rup"—lived a life grounded in devotion to family, hard work, and quiet strength. His parents owned Rupert’s Bakery, (Columbiana and East Palestine), where Bill spent many weekends helping in the family business. Those early experiences instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility, a strong work ethic, and a love of family traditions.

Bill enjoyed a long career as a draftsman and engineer. He was a man of few words but deep convictions, known for his steady presence, warm smile, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary (Flick) Rupert; his brother, James Rupert; and his beloved son, William Rupert, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Rupert; his daughter, Dena DeLuco and her husband Vince; and his daughter-in-law, Teresa Hrabovsky. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Glenn Rupert and his wife Laurie, Valerie Caron and her husband Matthew (and their children William, Ethan, and Delilah), Nathan Rupert, and Isaac Newton and his wife Leah (and their daughter Laurelin).

A celebration of life will be planned for Saturday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church (S. Main St.) in Columbiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels to support elderly in need.
