COLUMBIANA – Rosemary Magee, 80, passed away Monday evening, December 4 at Whispering Pine Village in Columbiana.
Rosemary was born on September 4, 1937, in Cleveland, a daughter of Leo and Rosemary (Kalina) Bender. A Brecksville High School graduate, she worked at Ohio Bell in Cleveland and Toledo. She was the traffic manager for WFRO in Fremont, OH, where she was one of the first women to provide football commentary for a radio station. Rosemary retired from Prudential Insurance Company, where she was a secretary. She married Samuel Magee on June 15, 1957.
A member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana, Rosemary loved watching the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes play. Along with her husband Sam, she became active in the Arts Council in PA and also the Hawk Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary in PA.
She is survived by one daughter, Kim Bevelhymer and her husband Darrell of Lisbon; two sons, David Magee and his wife Joanne of NC and John Magee and his wife Susana of VA; four granddaughters Jessica (Robert) Krueger, Jill (Joshua) Burton, Brianna Magee and Ashlyn Magee; five great-grandchildren Sam and Lily Kruger and Kiersten, Bryleigh and Blake Burton, five brothers and four sisters.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Sam, who passed away January 7, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 7th Street, Columbiana with the Fr. Christopher Cicero officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 7 at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, OH.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Rosemary’s memory to Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or the American Cancer Society, 525 N Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406-9274.
